Long Exposure Photography

Here are a few of the photos I have done. Some of them are over a minute of exposure (at night) creating a very smooth and fluid daylight appearance with a peculiar ambiance to it. None of the photos are edited. all shot at ISO100-400max. Enjoy!

Apple’s in-store self-service purchase using an app

It appears that Apple really trusts people. They are allowing people to use an app on their phones to buy products in Apple stores (or at least the one in SOHO) without any sales clerk or security interactions. I love the principle of trusting people first. Let’s hope it works out.

Video here.

An interesting display on the state of the UX profession. It’s American-based, but still interesting I think.

The Fate of Cellphones – preview

I am on a search to find out what people do with their old cellphones. I have started going around campus and asking students about what they do with their phones and how easy it is to recycle phones. Here’s an example of what they had to say.

This is the first video I shot, and I learned a lot from it – maybe most importantly that I should use a tripod! Watching the video, I think that I should also experiment with different angles for different responses.

My plan is to make short quick videos, with an ‘ad’ feeling.

Some exciting news for web designers was announced recently: Adobe acquired webfont hosting service Typekit early last month. Here’s hoping that we will soon be able to view webfonts inside Photoshop.

Making a Cinematograhs

So for my photo assignment I am working on making a cinematographic photo. Today I when out on my bike and my first stop was Gastown. Where the Gasclock is located. Thought that could be a good subject to use in my photo. When I got there is was blowing steam. So that was perfect for me. Here is my result of that.
Where I need to work on is the looping of the animation in the photo. Gastown was my first stop on my morning bike ride. Got some more footage around the downtown. I found the Photoshop won’t work with a big amount of frames. It limited to 200 frames. The other footage that I have to make a cinematograh have to many frames. Need to go out and work more on my skills

London 2012 Redesign

london 2012 logo

As part of a section on branding and visual identity design, we studied logos from Olympic Games over the past century. Then, as an in-class exercise, students tackled redesigning the London 2012 logo. Working quickly, in groups of 3 or 4, students conceptualized multiple approaches using familiar iconography.
