Jesse Chan
Hello, I’m Jesse Chan.
I’m an information architect/ user experience designer. I find how people interact with devices, games, websites, fascinating and I want to make those experiences fun and exciting. I’m looking for a like minded team interested in creating amazing things together.
Canucks IA Design
A group project for my studies in Interactive Information Design at Capilano University in the Interactive Design program. We were asked to content audit, sitemap, and propose a redesign for the “Fan Zone” section on the Vancouver Canucks website. Through the content audit and sitemap, it became apparent that an even older version of the “Fan Zone” was still in being used and that a single link was still directing users to this supposed disused section.
Our redesign primarily focus on consolidating sections where possible, reducing the amount of duplicate links and reorganizing the “Fan Zone” around its users. Chiefly the social media areas were redesigned to fit on a single page and stream lined so that users could access and make comments without having to jump back and forth multiple pages. More fan interactive content was shifted closer the left side of the page in the navigation to allow for people scanning to quickly find the link they were looking for.
Directed Studies Project
Based in Calgary, Slak Media was born out of a mutual interest of two friends in photography, which later turned into a career. The existing website was bought as template by the company and while it established Slak Media on the internet, it no longer reflected the company’s growing demographic.
Process
I started with site-mapping and content auditing the existing website and then consolidated overlapping sections into larger categories making it easier for user to browse. After getting some feedback from the company, I sketched and wireframed the main pages of the site, making sure that the photographs would be the biggest draw. Having worked with WordPress on a couple of occasions development progressed fairly well. The biggest hurdle was trying find the best ways to implement all the changes.
