Even Bill Gates Hates Windows
It’s a fun read: Bill Gates complains to his staff at length about the “crap” Windows user experience:
Wi Fresh – Custom Mobile Applications

The rapid evolution of the cell phone has made a huge impact on everyone. It has changed the
way we go about our daily lives and continues to increase our productivity with each new step
taken in the industry. Productivity tools are becoming extremely popular on mobile platforms and
are saving companies large sums of money. Owners can converse with their employees on the
go, keep track of data and make quick decisions without holding meetings or conferences.
Wi Fresh is a Vancouver based company that develops custom mobile applications. We
currently have some applications in the making and are looking for an investor to cover our
costs for the next two years to complete them and market the applications to major
corporations. We are very confident that these applications will be quickly adopted and used
internally by local businesses and large companies all over the world and expect a 30 percent
return on investment in the next 2 years. We are currently developing for the leading mobile
platform, the IPhone, which provides the best user experience in a flexible environment. We
strive to provide the most efficient applications that provide the end user with the most natural
interface possible.

Pinnacle Marketing Solutions – OLED Advertising Proposal

Topic: Propose a Partnership with Translink to use Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) Display Technology to Advertise on Translink Property
Executive Summary:
With the current economic situation, and the numerous projects and expansions that Translink is
undergoing, studies have shown that Translink will face a $300M shortfall every year from 2012
onwards. This is a problem that needs to be noticed soon before its too late. One form of
revenue that Translink seems to have overlooked is their advertising strategy. After having
signed a contract with LAMAR, Translink is only making about $1300 a week from advertising per
bus. Thats translates to a yearly revenue of about $62,400 a year per bus.
However, here at Pinnacle, we see an opportunity for Translink to do a lot more with their
advertising space and it is something that will not only attract more advertisers but will also allow
for more companies to advertise on Translink property. With our technology, were able to make
each bus generate over $200,000 per year within the first 2 years guaranteed. Thats about
$150,000 more than advertising with LAMAR. All the while, were able to do all this using efficient
and green technology.
What our company will use are our Organic Light Emitting Diodes or OLEDs. These OLEDs will
replace the traditional static poster ads found on busses, skytrains, and bus shelters. They are
thin enough and also flexible enough to fit into Translinks already existent infrastructure, and will
require little to no modification to the current structure for ad placements.
Our company, Pinnacle, is looking for a shared revenue partnership in which Translink will allow
us to install our technology into their advertising infrastructure. By Partnering with us, not only will
Translink increase their revenue, they will also be gaining a partner that is an expert in OLED and
targeted marketing solutions.

Getting Real
Have a burning desire to create a great web app? The thought leaders at 37signals have published a book outlining the philosophy behind the creation of their award-winning (and much-loved) web apps, called Getting Real. Seth Godin, best-selling author and founder of Squidoo.com, says, “Ignore it at your peril.”
Ah, the Designer’s Life
It’s the little things.
A Relic
Don’t ask me how I found this, but here’s an amazing fossilized website from the ’90s. Check out how things were done back in the day—by crazy people. A comment in the HTML states the site was updated in 2002, but a meta tag says that it was authored with PageMill 2, which I believe came out in 1995.
You just can’t believe how bad it could get back then!
